In February 2005, Dr. Zenon Matkiwsky and Olena Nyzhnykevych met with Anna Babinchuk, Public Affairs Executive, from Philip Morris-Ukraine, in our Kyiv office to discuss a partnership program in the field of oncology. After careful consideration, Philip Morris chose CCRDF as a grant recipient. This grant will enable us to purchase medical equipment to help diagnose and treat children with leukemia. The targeted cities for this grant will be Kharkiv, Rivne, and Zhytomyr. We anticipate completing this project for Philip Morris by the 20th Anniversary of the Chornobyl catastrophe. We are looking forward to working with Philip Morris to help save the lives of children who are undergoing treatment for leukemia, especially in areas that were hard-hit by fallout from the Chornobyl nuclear disaster.
