On December 20th, 2005 CCRDF and the Ukrainian Mobile Communications Corporation – UMC celebrated the arrival of new medical equipment at the Lviv Regional Children’s Clinical Hospital (Okhmadyt) in the picturesque regional capital of Western Ukraine. UMC and CCRDF held a joint press conference to announce the arrival of a state-of-the-art portable cardiac ultrasound, blood gas analyzer, infusion pumps and other technology that will enable the hospital to become only the fourth facility in able to perform open heart surgery on infants and small children suffering from congenital heart defects. CCRDF was able to purchase the equipment with the aid of a generous grant made possible by a special fundraising campaign last summer in which UMC customers helped to raise over $266,000 in donations and corporate matching gifts.
