Opening of New Cradles of Hope Center
On July 3, 2007 in Bakhchysaraj, Crimea, the Victor Pinchuk Foundation held an official opening ceremony of their Cradles of Hope Center at the Bakhchysaraij Central Regional Hospital. The Children of Chornobyl Relief and Development Fund closely works with the Pinchuk Foundation to implement the Cradles of Hope program across partner hospitals in Ukraine. This is the seventh center that has opened in a year and a half. Previous centers have opened at the Chernihiv City Maternity Hospital, Voldymyrets Central Regional Hospital, Poltava Children’s City Clinic, Ovruch Central Regional Hospital, Dnipropetrovsk Children’s City Clinic No. 3 and at the Amosova’s Institute of Cardiac Surgery in Chernivtsi – an oblast children’s clinic.
For the maternity hospital in Bakhchysaraj, CCRDF had purchased and installed modern neonatal equipment: an artificial respirator Bear Cub 750, an Atom incubator for newborns, a Mars Pulse Oximeter, a Colin Press Mate cardiomonitor, an aspirator, an infusion pump, a Honda 2500 fetal monitor for analysis of twins and a stationary ultrasound scanner.
Thanks to the newly installed equipment, the physicians at the hospital in Bakhchysaraj will have the ability the diagnose and save critically ill newborns, such as babies with low birth weights and breathing difficulties, which will improve the level and quality of medical support for newborns in Crimea.
The Cradles of Hope program foresees the opening of new centers that will help newborns, mothers and their families, in the future. For now, thanks to the program Cradles of Hope, the road that the newborn and it’s family will take, starting from the moment of pregnancy and delivery, to a successful release from the maternity hospital, will be expertly handled by the medical personnel of the Bakhchysaraj Central Regional Hospital.
